Well done to Concept Coverings for site of the month August!

“The UK’s leading source for Digitally printed wallcoverings, fabrics and many more products at an affordable price.” - from site.
They have stuck to the W3C standards and their design is clean and simple. Navigation is easy and the colourful images make it aesthetically pleasing. Great commenting in your code and well done for keeping it neat.

One of the items that is high up on my list of favourite things is chocolate (candy)! Maybe this is the main reason that Candy Favorites is the site of the month?! Well not really, maybe a little…
Congratulations to Candy Favorites; you are our site of the month at The 100 Lists Directory for June!

Not only does this design look great (I love the Georgia font) but it is good ol’ W3C compliant. Well done… I will add a bonus $3 to your sweet looking site.

I have had many ask me what the difference between Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is, so I thought I might throw a couple of definitions out there.
I am going to start with SEO, as it is a part of SEM. SEO is the act of optimising the html and other content of your website for relevant, targeted key phrases in order to attain higher natural listings than competing websites. SEO provides a cheaper long term solution for increased qualified traffic and generates customer enquiries that ultimately convert to sales. Thanks to ihaveawebsitenowwhat.co.uk for help with a definition.
Now SEM is broader than SEO. It includes SEO and other areas to improve a sites visibility in search engine results pages, like paid listings and paid inclusions.
You can think of SEM as more expensive and quite possibly more targeted, while SEO is free (not counting your time of course) and its purpose is to obtain better free search listings.
Personally, I would start with SEO and then move onto SEM.

SEO Voter is a Search Engine Optimization social network highlighting the hot topics in SEO, directories, tools and news.
I thought that it would be a great idea to mix a social networking site with a directory list. I am hoping it creates a great source of SEO news and a resource that is easy to search. BTW, the tagcloud and search works great and finding recent submissions is a piece of cake.
I have included revenue sharing on SEO Voter. It uses Google Adsense and each user is able to add their Adsense ID in the profile area for the system to show adds for them. So come along and add some articles and make some extra on your Adsense too!

This month’s site is probably not search engine friendly nor standards compliant (I didn’t even check), but this site is site of the month for one reason. The reason is to create more awareness of what has gone on in Sudan and what is continually crippling the poor country.
Congratulations to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for working with Google Earth to bring us the bigger picture of the crisis that this country faces. The aim of the site is to help users worldwide visualize and better understand the genocide currently unfolding in Darfur, and to respond to the crisis.

Firebug - web development evolved.
“Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.” - Firebug Site.
This is a great tool for all you web developers! It is great to be able to edit CSS, HTML, and JavaScript on the fly. This can potentially save some serious development time.
Some of the more advanced tools that stand out include: monitor network activity, debug and profile JavaScript and explore the DOM. I give this first edition of the Firefox add-on top marks; well worth having a look at this one!
